House of Hope
The Foundation and The Brian Bell Group supports Soroptimist International in association with House of Hope and Links of Hope.
On Saturday 3rd December the Soroptimist International Club of POM and the Brian Bell Group team visited children who have lost family due to HIV/AIDS through the House of Hope (HOH) and Links of Hope (LOH) programs. The charity’s annual Christmas party hosted 173 kids at Ela Beach Oval enjoyed a nutritious lunch and received presents from Santa, played Tug-o-war and participated in a treasure hunt with thanks to Links of Hope and its helper organizations, Soroptimist International PNG, the Sir Brian Bell Foundation and many others.
The Foundation donated K5,000 to this fantastic event which went towards presents and food hampers for 130 families, all of whom live in settlements in the Moresby South area. The Brian Bell Group (BBG) who has been the leading supporter of this event since 2013 provided equipment on the day. The BBG staff cooked up a mumu and food for the kids and their families.
House of Hope (HOH) is a Women’s Refuge Centre run by Salvation Army of PNG this Community Outreach Program provides assistance with basic education and literacy classes and awareness workshops to children between the ages of 2 and 14 many of whom have not had the opportunity and means of attending mainstream schools. HOH staff & volunteers also provide basic counseling to parents, guardians, and carers of children who regularly visit the Centre. These children have either lost parents to HIV/AIDS while others may be infected with HIV since birth, the House of Hope and Links of Hope provides care and support for those in need and also caters for children who are affected by Gender Based Violence by providing a safe haven for children and their affected parent.
HOH in partnership with LOH PNG is helping to sponsor school aged children in attending primary schools in POM as well as providing basic food and personal hygiene supplies to children and their families. LOH PNG is partnering with individuals who wish to sponsor children by making financial donations towards their education and basic daily needs.
